with bjoern torske, skateboard, telephones and last not least the sex tags label all hailing from bergen, the city s not been exactly short on world leading “d.i.s.c.o” , but it s geir hermansen aka velferd that recently cought our ear with his keys. in “the city that drowned” it s unlikely only ever so wet, there s bliss, sun, warmth, heat - all painted bright with skyrocketing masterful synths over very neat and dry bass. great! laid back and somehow dreamy the whole thing catches you by the ear and lingers on but then there s so much dedicated kick and an almost extatic groove in each track - irresistable string hooks made in heaven! “never” and “through the valley” add on to where the title song just left and this give the 3 track ep so much perfectly arranged strength… bergen might well have given birth to another disco standard-bearer.

jad & the sends off the ladyboy (fka jad & the ladyboy) and has a going away party to celebrate. the party starts off with some sad cries (it’s always sad saying goodbye), then the yeah band starts playing to take peoples minds off their sadness, after their afrocentric set the guy who always has the discogs window open and 7 inch adapters in his pockets jumps up and plays a disco dancefloor tool designed to tease but please. now that everyone s warmed up and ready for it, the next dj drops some underground real shit which even gets a nod from the high brow dj squad in the corner. the twelve people there lose their shit. great night had by all.

reissue of a classic! the label: tk records in essence represents the city of miami when it came to soul/r&b and the early stages of disco. in 1974, george mccrae gave the label its first no. 1 disco hit with rock your baby. a little more than a year after mccrae s hit, the record label struck gold with kc & the sunshine band with five 1 songs on the billboard hot 100. needless to say at the height of the genreÆs cultural domination tk did pretty well.

nicola cruz polishes off a trippy tryptic of cult releases for multi culti with espÌritu. folklorica s chosen lord, nicola cruz has shepherded the masses from the church of high tempos and brought trance-formed revellers down to earth with his fusion of crisp electronics and organic, indigenous vibrations. miraculously, he has brought this style of music to europe s major big room clubs and huge festival stages worldwide, pleasing crowds in the habit of being hypnotized by homogenous house music. espìritu de protección opens as a revelation, two seconds into the groove and you re deep in the tribe. you re dancing, everybody s dancing, things dub out, melt down, and a haunting vocal wisps through the room, tickling the crowd from their tailbones to their pineal glands. just as you recover from that spell, in fly the flutes. every yogi in the vicinity sways into the front and all of a sudden, you know you re getting laid tonight. that s the kind of power we re dealing with: cruz control. it s so potent we had to carefully extract the flute-a-pella and serve it up separately to use as a cult dj tool. on the flip side, not one but two slamming remixes of tzantza from disco halal-defekting russian duo: simple symmetry. vinyl lovers rejoice in the supreme exclusivity on the digitally unavailable folklorica dub, a supreme tranceformational party tool with enough flute to elevate the mind of the many.

weÆre now halfway through the treisar series and moscoman shows no sign of slowing down. next up is donkey jumps ahead. the sixth chapter kicks off with big jack arbon, an unambiguous summer anthem tied up by digital steel drums and pitched chants. on the flip, things forgot to be this way calls for the never-ending daze of the afterhours with disco infused melodies and distant vocals floating atop doped down beats. closing track unheard melody sets a different pace. wistful mediterranean guitars pick unhurried melodies while delays cloud the track in just the right amount of sleaze.
